A friendly small-group technology learning session with older adults

Essential Tech Clinic

A trusted place to ask before the question becomes urgent.

Four scheduled sessions each year give members a predictable place to learn, ask questions, and recognize current risks—in plain language and without pressure.

Accessible by design

Video conference with telephone dial-in.

The telephone option is part of the program, not an afterthought.

Each session is recorded. A one-page plain-language handout is emailed to every residential member afterward, including people who could not attend.

Community connection

At least two sessions are held in person.

Public libraries, senior centers, community centers, and church fellowship halls create a familiar, approachable setting. Members may bring a guest.

Additional sessions may be scheduled when an active local threat or scam pattern warrants one.

Quarterly topic rhythm

Useful subjects people can plan around.

The themes are stable enough to publish and flexible enough to reflect current examples.

Q1

Tax Season Fraud

Impersonation, refund scams, and preparer fraud.

Q2

Accounts and Access

Passwords, account recovery, and safer online banking.

Q3

Protecting What Matters

Photo and document backup and staying connected with family.

Q4

Enrollment and Holiday Season

Open-enrollment scams and safer holiday shopping.

Why it matters

Predictability turns education into prevention.

A scheduled clinic gives members a place to bring questions before they become individual emergencies.

01

Ask safely

Bring the suspicious message or confusing prompt.

02

Practice together

One explanation serves the whole group.

03

Keep the handout

Plain-language next steps remain available afterward.
